The earliest publications known in UK are from the 19th century. Comics were usually directed to children. But over the years, adults started reading the comics. In the beginning all the titles presented only humorous content. Nowadays there are two different types of comics books: humorous comics and Japanese Manga and they both are very famous!
The most famous british characters are Ally Slopes, Andy Capp, Desperate Dan, Dennis the Menace, Bash Street Kids, Luther Arkwright and Judge Dredd.
And the most famous creators are Tom Browne, Dudley D. Watkins, Leo Baxendale, Frank Hampson, Frans Bellamy, Pat Mills and Posy Simmonds.
